TALM is a Professional Association for all Laboratory Managers in Tasmanian Schools, Colleges and Tertiary Education.
Founded in 1973, our primary purpose is to provide an organised group to connect and support Laboratory Managers and Laboratory Technicians working in Tasmanian Schools, Colleges and Tertiary Education.
We promote the exchange of ideas, methods and resources providing educational programs for professional growth and enrichment, as well as peer support. We have an extensive contact list available to members reaching out for practical support and troubleshoots, as well as sourcing equipment and consumables needed for the day to day running of science practicals and our school laboratory labs.
We meet as a whole at least two times a year, holding a conference in each region of our state and taking turns to host. Our Annual General Meeting at the end of the year is held at Ross, which is the agreed middle travel point for our members in Tasmania. Throughout the school year we also hold regional personal learning opportunities during term breaks that encourage peer input and help us build skills in areas we feel need the most focus at the time.
We encourage collaboration with interstate School Laboratory Managers and Technicians and links to these associations can be found on this website under Links.
We warmly welcome new members. If you would like to become a member please use the registration form provided on our membership link.
